This week’s topic “Was Colin Barnett's government's initiation of compulsory acquisition of James Price Point lawful? In your opinion was it ethical? Be sure to include references to other people/groups point of view.”
In my opinion of this whole situation that Colin Barnett has put toward is not lawful at all. He is going ahead with something that most people don’t want to see happen. He thinks because he is a big guy with a high position he can do anything he wants. Yes at first he was keeping it very professional as he took the time to come out to Kimberley, and spoke to people to see what they thought of the situation and all. He thought by doing that he could negotiate something with them so that it was a win and win situation. As time passed by Colin Barnett was getting annoyed and frustrated as he wasn’t getting anywhere so he decided to go forwards with the project and not care about what the indigenous people and what they thought. He has no respect at all for anyone especially the people who are currently living there. By continuing with this project, it will bring up lots of issues and problems for example climate change, pollution, environmental disasters may occur etc. As stated in most articles I have looked up Kimberley is what Australia is about, the attractions and scenery is what draws attention to tourist. They are taking away something that is so precious and beautiful. What Colin Barnett is doing is wrong in so many ways; he is hurting a lot of people with what he wants to do because apparently it is something that needs to be done and will be good for the future.
The following are people’s point of view on this topic:

To construct an LNG Plant as big as this anywhere along the kimberley coastline especially on the Dampier Peninsula amounts to no less than absolute "Cultural Genocide"Woodside is completely aware of this,as is state and federal governments this is why the state government is doing all of Woodsides dirty work by threatening land aquisition.Woodside has an applalling record of cultural destruction already by destroying rock art at the Burrup Peninsula.James Price Point should be renamed "Barnetts Bluff"
KLC are the true Killers of Law and Culture. They were a grass roots organisation which has almost become another arm of the state government.Their primary role was to help gain Native title through the legal system, their secondary role was to set up the Prescribed Body Corporate. They have kept the PBC down so that they are the ones to do the negotiations.they have taken away rights from the true Traditional Owners.Wayne Bergman stands to gain an incredible amount of personal wealth by positioning himself as the executor of the LNG deals. He woill become the wealthiest Indigenous person in Australia.Housing ,Education and Health is the responsibility of government. You cannot sell off the cultural rights to land and still mantain your identity.KLC stands to become the most powerful organisation in the state of western australia beneath the state government.what gives them a right to hold this position.Aboriginal people of Austrlai are not a homogenous society. No one voted for wayne Bergaman or KLC.I know how Wayne got his position in the KLC.H eused his family to usurp the position.

These following comments are from a site telling Mr Burke to not approve the Kimberley gas refinery.

To WA EPA: As a seas Kayakker I cant believe anyone doesnt see how this will affect tourism to the kimberley.
RachelAngel's:
To WA EPA: When I first travelled Australia 15 years ago, I fell in love with the Kimberley,I read books about it, and dream of the day i could return there. Please please do not bring this pollution to the beautiful ancient and unique landscape of the Kimberley. It is a jewel in Australia's crown, and it would be worse than tragic if it is lost to the industry of mining. Think of tourism, conservation, indigenous rights, and the heart and soul of Australians love of the land
Please do not approve this disastrous project.
Please do not approve this disastrous project.
Merri Bee's message To WA EPA:
Collin Barnett and his government have been a disaster for WA . They have cut funding to the EPA, and The Conservation Council, introduced Genetically Modified crops in spite of the massive public opposition and the biggest petition ever presented to WA parliment. He has cut funding to libraries and allowed mining in National Parks. Proposes to reopen and build several more coal fired power stations while the public cry out for renewables NOW and action on climate change. We've had enough of the destruction of our country for overseas energy contracts. Do not allow the destruction of the Kimberly coast with this Gas Hub Mr Bourke, please!!!
Boze’s: To WA EPA: Dear Tony
Your role as a Minister of Environment is to protect the environment for the next generations. Do you have children? After all the 3 things we cannot live without is fresh air, clean water and healthy food that can only be grown and healthy land
Pedro11's: To WA EPA: Mr Burke,
The Kimberley coast is the wrong place for a gas facility. It is a fantastic tourism asset. Any large industrial facility is not compatible with the aim of the Kimberley becoming one of the worlds top eco tourism destinations. Please relocate the gas plant to a less iconic and less environmentally sensitive area where there is already industrial development.

I am totally against any industrial business being carried out in the Kimberley region. It is such a beautiful and amazing place in Australia, on the same par as the Great Barrier Reef, and should remain the pristine place that it is for all the world and it's creatures to enjoy and remain safe within. Any disturbance to this environment would be devastating and irreversible. Please do not allow this proposal to go any further. Declare the Kimberley region a national park so it will remain the safe haven it always has been, for all to enjoy.
Dazza4's:
Rape and pillage of the Kimberley seems to be gaining momentum, as greedy developers and miners and Governments set their eyes on it for personal and business profits, without regard for the wanton destruction they are causing by their actions.
My will is that this cease immediately, and that this development in particular NOT go ahead in any form. Surely it is not to much to ask that some part of Australia be left unsullied by this naked and nasty greed. I realise that the proponents have no regard for NATURE, but it would be hoped that our political servants would do what the majority of the people want in this instance. LEAVE THE KIMBERLEY ALONE!

Liz38's:
WA: beauty with no brains? This development is placing $$$ over the right of future generations to appreciate such raw beauty.
sorry white woman's:
Please leave what is left of the Kimberley region alone. Hasn't the Argyle Diamond Mine done enough damage?? - blowing up beautiful rock escarpments that had sacred carvings on top of them. I saw them with my own eyes in the 70's....who will ever get to see them again? Nothing is really sacred to white people is it!?!
